Yes, this procedure can achieve permanent results however there are certain requirements that must be met. Firstly the laser must have an adequate amount of energy and the proper wavelength must be used.
DermSpa Laser Clinic has the world’s fastest, safest and most effective laser available. Some lasers don’t generate enough energy or use an ineffective wavelength and therefore only achieve temporary results. Additionally the target for the laser is melanin and specifically melanin in the bulb that lies under the hair follicle. Thus, hair that is void of melanin i.e., red, gray and bleach blond are not good targets for permanent hair removal. Also the hair must be treated while in the Anagen or active growth cycle. This is when the follicle is connected to the bulb, thus the energy can penetrate down the follicle into the bulb where it is destroyed using light and heat. The reason a person needs multiple treatments to achieve permanency is because only about 20 percent of a persons hair is ever actively growing and thus giving a target for the laser. Is Laser Hair Removal safe? That depends on several variables. Many of the lasers on the market do not have an integrated cooling system; this increases the risk of being burned by a laser. Because a laser uses light and heat to remove hair and there is melanin in both hair and skin, if a laser does not have a cooling system to protect the epidermis there is a risk of a potential burn. However the Lumenis One system that DermSpa Laser Clinic uses is the world’s safest laser. Not only because it uses a integrated sapphire chilled tip which cools the skin but also because it has a patented technology called “IPL” which alone has “multiple sequential pulsing”. Multiple sequential pulsing allows the Lumenis One to deliver energy to a target broken into pulses. This is important because of something called “thermal relaxation time” this is the amount of time it takes a target to heat up and then cool down. Skin has a quick thermal relaxation time, thus it heats and cools faster than hair. This allows the Lumenis One to deliver energy to both the skin and the hair in the initial pulse; the sapphire chilled tip and the millisecond pause between the first and second pulse allow the skin to cool while the hair follicle and bulb remain hot. Then a second pulse is delivered heating the hair and destroying the bulb but giving the skin time to cool off. A third pulse of energy may be used if necessary. Only the Lumenis One has both the patented IPL technology with multiple sequential pulsing and an integrated sapphire chilled tip. Are all lasers the same? No some lasers use different wavelengths and have varying degrees of power. Some lasers use ineffective wavelengths that do not absorb well into melanin i.e. (1064 yag which absorbs well into oxy-hemoglobin but not melanin) and therefore only achieve temporary results. Other uses good wavelength’s (i.e. 800 nm) but don’t have enough power or fluency to achieve permanent results. What makes DermaSpa Laser clinic’s Lumenis One the best? The Lumenis One system that DermSpa Laser Clinic uses is the world’s fastest, safest and most effective laser. It is at least twice as fast as any other laser hair removal device thus instead of taking one and a half hours to treat women’s legs or a man’s back it will take 30-40 minutes! It is also the safest, not only because it uses an integrated sapphire chilled tip which cools the skin but also because it has a patented technology called “IPL” which alone has “multiple sequential pulsing”. Multiple sequential pulsing allows the Lumenis One to deliver energy to a target broken into pulses. This is important because of something called “thermal relaxation time” this is the amount of time it takes a target to heat up and then cool down. Skin has a quick thermal relaxation time, thus it heats and cools faster than hair, broken capillaries (i.e. spider veins) lintigos (i.e. age spots) or other sun damage. This allows the Lumenis One to deliver energy to both the skin and the hair or sun damage in the initial pulse; the sapphire chilled tip and the millisecond pause between the first and second pulse allow the skin to cool while the hair or sun damage remain hot. Then a second pulse is delivered heating the hair or and destroying the bulb but giving the skin time to cool off. A third pulse of energy may be used if necessary. Only the Lumenis One has both the patented IPL technology with multiple sequential pulsing and an integrated sapphire chilled tip. Also the Lumenis One system is the only system in the world that allows the operator to choose from the 515, 560, 590, 615, 640, 695, and 755 filtered wavelengths for optimizing results depending on the target that is being addressed, i.e. hair removal, sun damage or leg veins. Can I tan and still have laser treatments? No. It is important that a person avoid exposing the area to be treated from sunlight or even a tanning bed for approximately three weeks before treatment. Even self-tanners should not be used a week prior to treatment. Failure to head this can result in discoloration of the treated area. |
